Hotel Reichegger

2024
Gais
A conceptual expansion of Hotel Reichegger combines Alpine tradition with contemporary wellness and dining areas through an L-shaped extension and a carefully balanced façade design.

The conceptual design for the transformation and expansion of Hotel Reichegger explores the architectural potential of combining traditional Alpine character with contemporary hospitality needs. At the heart of the proposal lies an L-shaped extension that unfolds toward the south, housing a new wellness area, restaurant, and bar.

While the addition brings in modern programmatic and spatial elements, the original structure—with its classic gabled roof—remains intact, grounding the project in its rural, regional identity. The contrast between the historic volume and the new construction is intentional: where one speaks of permanence and heritage, the other introduces openness, clarity, and a fresh rhythm.

The dialogue between old and new is held together through a restrained yet expressive façade concept. Subtle material transitions and thoughtful geometry allow the ensemble to remain cohesive while offering depth and variation in visual experience. The extension is designed to integrate naturally into the surrounding landscape while gently framing outdoor views for guests.

Interior programs are structured to support wellness, relaxation, and sociability—creating a fluid sequence between private retreats and communal areas. The wellness zone is conceived as a modern sanctuary, while the restaurant and bar areas blend comfort with panoramic openness.

In essence, the Hotel Reichegger expansion is a forward-looking gesture that respects its roots. It proposes a refined reinterpretation of Alpine hospitality—one that acknowledges tradition, but also embraces the spatial and experiential expectations of today’s guests.
