Chalet La Bel reinterprets a traditional Tyrolean farmhouse in the Gader Valley through a sensitive process of restoration, expansion, and modern transformation. What was once a neglected agricultural structure is now a refined mountain retreat, offering five distinct residential units that balance historical integrity with contemporary design.
The original volumes are preserved and restored with minimal intervention to maintain the rustic charm and character of the vernacular architecture. A newly added central volume—gently embedded into the slope—connects the existing wings and houses expanded living areas. This insertion remains discreet, ensuring the composition remains grounded in the landscape and respectful of its alpine surroundings.
Each unit is oriented to maximize panoramic views of the Dolomites while drawing on the warmth of traditional building materials such as local wood and stone. The interiors are calm and pared back, allowing light and scenery to become central elements of the living experience.
Sustainability is not only material but spatial: the design minimizes ground impact, works with the terrain, and reuses structural elements where possible. Chalet La Bel speaks of continuity—between past and present, built form and nature, tradition and innovation.
The result is a living environment that feels rooted and yet distinctly contemporary—a respectful evolution of Alpine heritage, offering privacy, comfort, and timeless connection to place.
