Apartment 6 is a thoughtfully designed residential complex in Toblach, composed of six apartments that emerge from the careful renovation of an existing building and the addition of a new structure. The project creates a cohesive whole that engages with the local architectural language while confidently introducing contemporary elements.
Starting from the conversion of a pre-existing structure and expanded with a new volume, this complex reflects the surrounding environment through proportions and materials typical of the region. What sets it apart are modern design accents—most notably, a custom wooden shading system that provides privacy and sun protection while giving the façade a distinctive rhythm and texture.
The original building has been respectfully updated, preserving its character and integrating modern comforts. The new addition is deliberately restrained, enhancing the unity of the complex without overpowering the existing architecture. Inside, each unit is functionally and efficiently laid out, ensuring clarity, comfort, and a modern sense of space.
The juxtaposition of old and new, traditional and contemporary, is handled with subtlety. The wooden shading elements not only serve a functional role but act as a defining architectural feature, representing the project's core idea: rooted in place, yet forward-looking.
Apartment 6 represents a refined take on Alpine living—an example of how to build with sensitivity to context while embracing modern expression. It blends architectural heritage with innovation to offer a unique and meaningful residential experience.
